Medical Project 

Health Charity for New Life – Offered an opportunity for patient who need surgery for a better quality of life

To increase opportunities to access healthcare and have good quality of life in unaffordable patients, was one of the main aspirations of the Vejdusit Foundation. Vejdusit Foundation was pleased to provide good opportunity to enable unaffordable patients to resume their routine activities like normal people. Therefore, Vejdusit Foundation was committed to providing charitable surgical health care to improve patient’s quality of life. According to statistical data, it was reported that more than 10 percent of the Thai population had osteoarthritis and the trend was increasing every year, which was caused by their routine behaviors (Based on information from the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University). Vejdusit Foundation initiated the project of knee replacement for elderly patients who needed knee surgery. This surgery was a treatment option that the patient could fast recover and resume to routine activities as other people. Vejdusit Foundation in corporation with BDMS network had provided treatment to unaffordable patients for improving their physical health and quality of life by doctors who specialized on hip & knee surgery.

Vejdusit Medical Mobile Unit – medical mobile unit for primary care 

 

The mission of Vejdusit Foundation was to promote a good health in Thai youth. However, the recent situation of Thai society has obstructed many young people from the opportunity of having a good healthcare. Vejdusit Foundation under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rejanagarindra had cooperated with Bangkok Hospital for providing medical mobile unit for primary care. The volunteer doctors, nurses, and staff had offered basic health check-up for underserved children. The parents and teachers would be aware of children’s health problems and refer them for further treatment according to their national medical welfare. Some children with chronic diseases were referred to Bangkok Hospital.   

Medical mobile units for treating young people in the Foundation for Slum Child Care under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rejanagarindra for 4 areas were the following.  

1.  House of Hope (On Nut community) 2. Bann Somwai (Klongtoey community) 3. Bann Srinakarin (Nong Khaem rubbish dump community) and 4. Bann Suea Yai (Bann Suea Yai Community, Pracha Uthit)  

Vejdusit Foundation had continually provided mobile medical units to them since 2015 until now.

Recently, Vejdusit Foundation had coordinated with Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital for extending mobile medical unit to Thanyaphon Reception Home for Girls in Pathumthani province for health screening and common vaccination to increase an opportunity of having good health among underserved children for sustainable development.  

 

Green Health Care & Share – Offered a medical equipment for unaffordable patients

In today's society, awareness of equality for the underserved people had increased. There were friendly facilities to support people with disabilities such as sidewalk for blind, ramp for amputees, etc. However, some underserved people were not easy to access to medical equipment. Thus, Vejdusit Foundation represented all donors as a merit bridge to hand out medical equipment that were no longer in use and in good condition to the underprivileged people who needed them. This project was to share kindness from the “givers” to “end user”.

In 2023, Vejdusit Foundation delivered 2,572 units of medical equipment. Vejdusit Foundation also offered works to people with disabilities by hiring them to produce wheelchairs that were suitable for the physical and lifestyle of handicapped. Moreover, Vejdusit Foundation donated medical equipment to various charitable organizations such as regional hospitals or district hospitals so the underprivileged people would have advanced medical equipment that were suitable for treating diseases that had constantly evolving. It promoted an opportunity of equal healthcare access. 

 

Health Care 

Green Health for Well-being – Promoted disease screening for health care 

 Another core mission of Vejdusit Foundation was to provide health care through public charity projects. At present, mental health problems among undergraduate youth (Age range 18 – 22 years) were caused from environment of educational pressure and adaptation after leaving home where born. These problems should receive the attention and screening from psychiatrists and psychologists for evaluation and treatment to prevent unremedied loss.

Moreover, Vejdusit Foundation had extended activities from mental health to cancer screening for patients in the waiting list of diagnosis. The collaboration among Vejdusit Foundation, National Cancer Institute and Bangkok Cancer Hospital Wattanosoth was to screen the patients who were waiting for cancer diagnosis in government hospitals and to treat them according to the symptoms occurred. PET-CT was used as a tool for an accurate and precise diagnosis. 

 

Green Health Charity Support – Promoted basic life support training

 Vejdusit Foundation realized that accidents and unexpected events; especially life threatening injuries to yourself, your beloved family and witness to the accident, happened without warning. An emergency rescue and basic life support could reduce the severity of injury that might lead to future losses. However, live saving required particular knowledge and skills to reduce possible risks.

Vejdusit Foundation in collaboration with BDMS network and volunteers from Share for Life Join for Love Team had conducted the life support training programs for people more than 931 times in many places such as educational institutes, communities, government and private sector agencies. The total participants were 61,172. The project was extended to the training programs for increasing life support instructors. The increase of life support instructors would increase the life support training courses covering all areas and reduce the chance of death from unexpected events. 

 

Green Health @ School – Improved infirmary for sanitation of children

The Green Health @ School project was initialed by the limited budget of schools. Many schools prioritized their budgets on important things first. Most remote areas, school was the center of the community. However, the infirmary and storage room of many schools were located in the same area, just separated by partitions. Vejdusit Foundation realized an importance of improving infirmary, supplying medicine and medical equipment and improving infirmary as a clean zone according to standard. The students could go to infirmary for treatment or first aids with adequate medicine and medical equipment. The infirmary could be used for conducting the public health or basic life support training programs. The aspiration of Vejdusit Foundation was the good health of Thai children without illness.

Vejdusit Foundation had established this project since 2012 because of recognizing the importance of school infirmary. Some communities used school infirmary as a place for primary care. Vejdusit Foundation had improved or established an infirmary in many schools in remote areas and also donated medicine and medical supplies for promoting an easy access to good health. Recently, Vejdusit Foundation had expanded the opportunity to many schools for receiving fund. It included the improvement of playgrounds, canteens, toilets and water purify system in schools. It was a chance of accessing to good health in schools in remote areas. More than 200 schools had been improved. 

 
Social Support 

Social Contribution Project – Supported social

 Environmental problems and climate change caused many disasters, including floods, cold weather, and particulate matter (PM). These problems also lead to health problems in the future. Vejdusit Foundation had supported government agencies to help flood victims in the areas of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province and Phitsanulok province by donating survival bags to the victims and collaborating with Bangkok Hospital Headquarters and Bangkok Hospital Phitsanulok for providing mobile medical units to remedy the victims.

 Cold weather was still a problem that killed many victims in Thailand. In some remote areas it was not easy to adequately supply warm apparels. Vejdusit Foundation aware of the loss from such problems. Thus, we delivered sweaters, blankets, gloves and socks to reduce the effects of cold weather in winter. Our first target people that would be received cold protection clothing was focused on various ethnic groups who were destitute and living in remote areas in Chiang Mai province and Chiang Rai provinces.

The problem of particulate matter or PM 2.5 in North of Thailand was a new environmental problem that needed to be resolved urgently. The medical study indicated that PM problems affected the respiratory system, development of the respiratory system and child development. The preschool children could not protect themselves from this harm. Hence, Vejdusit Foundation had cooperated with the Research Institute for Health Sciences (RIHES), Chiang Mai University for giving ready-to-use air purifiers to Child Development Center. Thus, our target children would have purified air and clean air rooms. The cooperation with the Research Institute for Health Sciences (RIHES), Chiang Mai University was to produce an air cleansing box that was able to purify air and circulate good air with lower cost than commercial air purifiers. This project was “Restoring Clean Air” and piloted in the areas of Chiang Mai province and Chiang Rai province. In addition, Vejdusit Foundation had cooperated with many partnerships such as Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai, Bangkok Hospital Chiang Rai and Lalita PPO Company Limited for establishing more clean air rooms. We had expected that every Child Development Center in Northern of Thailand would be the dust-free area and all children could breathe safely. In the future, the project would respectively be expanded from children to cover their families and to cover their communities; 305 rooms, 145 child development centers and other potential areas, for clean air and safety zones. 
 

Vejdusit Scholarship for Future life – Offered educational fund for brighter life

To offer an educational opportunity was sustainable help that would keep the children on track with their learning and relieve them from social pressures. Vejdusit Foundation established the project, namely “Grows a Seedling to a Nurse” in 2023 as the first year. The aspiration of this project was to keep the children on track with their learning and to fulfill Vejdusit Foundation’s dream of creating more nurses with passion for patient care in public health system in Thailand.  

In 2023, Vejdusit Foundation had granted nursing sponsorships to 24 institutes, totally 102 sponsorships, 280,000 Bath each, throughout the course of study. Scholarships given to nursing students were free money and no expectation for repayment to Vejdusit Foundation. So that the granted nurses would have commitment in their studies. They would grow to be nurses with compassion and care. Furthermore, they would create opportunities to extend same scholarships for more students in the health sciences faculties.
